Over Whelmed By Keyboard Choices? Choose Your Ideal Fit Now!

Choosing the right keyboard can be a bit overwhelming, but here are some helpful tips to guide you through the process:

Our Favorite Keyboard Brands

When it comes to quality, you can’t go wrong with brands like Roland, Yamaha, Casio, and Kawai. These are well-known for producing keyboards that closely replicate the sound and feel of an acoustic piano.

Full Size Keyboard (88 Keys) with Fully Weighted Keys

For students to develop proper piano technique and sound control, it’s essential to choose a keyboard with 88 fully weighted keys. Semi-weighted keys may not provide the same level of resistance and feel as a real piano, so it’s best to avoid them.

Pedals - The Soul of the Piano

The damper pedal has been call the 'soul of the piano' and is a critical feature, as students will begin using it within their first year of lessons. Make sure the keyboard you choose includes one.

Piano Stand and Adjustable Bench - DON"T FORGET IT!

Proper seating is just as important as the keyboard itself! The height of the bench plays a crucial role in maintaining proper posture, ensuring that the student’s elbows are level with or slightly above the white keys.

Prices $_$

Prices can vary significantly, so it’s worth taking the time to shop around for the best deal on the model you choose.

New or Used

A new keyboard usually comes with a warranty, which can offer peace of mind. If you’re considering a used model, make sure you buy from a reputable piano store that offers a warranty.

What to do if you have a limited budget?

If the recommended keyboards are out of your budget, consider looking for the same model series on Facebook Marketplace. However, be mindful that the condition of the piano might be questionable, and used pianos typically don’t come with a warranty.

What about those other Brands?

While some families opt for cheaper, lesser-known brands, these often break down or develop issues more frequently, based on our experience. These models may seem like a bargain at first, but they typically don’t offer the same durability or performance as the more reputable brands.
